How Do I Know If EFT Is for Me?

I discovered EFT in 2021 and my life has since shifted in so many wonderful ways that I can’t remember what life was like without having this tool.

If you’re entirely new to it, though, let me assure you: When I first learned about it, I thought the concept sounded a little too good to be true, too easy, and I was sceptical to try. If you’re feeling this way, I can fully relate – so let me give you a little is-this-for-me?-guide to EFT (spoiler alert: it is. I’m so excited for you to try 🤍).

What Is EFT, Anyway?

In simplest terms, EFT (also known as tapping), is a gentle, non-invasive method that combines elements of cognitive therapy and acupressure. By tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on particular emotions or thoughts, EFT helps to restore balance to the body’s energy system.

… Think of it as a way to “reset” your emotional state, helping you release negative emotions and limiting beliefs that no longer serve you.

And this was the part that initially sounded ‘too easy’ to me – a few minutes of tapping is supposed to help me ‘reset my emotional state’? If that would be the case, I could just tap for anything: anger, anxiety, doubt… or for more happiness, more calmness, and to manifest my dreams.

… Well, exactly! 🤍

Is EFT Right for You?

It’s so simple yet so effective, for so, so many things. If you’re wondering if it could help you, here’s just a few of the countless topics EFT can help you with:

  • Persistent Negative Thoughts: If you often find yourself caught in cycles of self-doubt, anxiety, or fear, EFT can help you break free from these patterns.
  • Emotional Overwhelm: Feeling emotionally overwhelmed or facing difficulties to cope with stress? EFT offers tools to manage and reduce these intense feelings.
  • Desire for Personal Growth: If you’re on a journey of self-discovery and looking for methods to support your growth, EFT is a valuable addition to your toolkit.

From my personal experience, EFT has profoundly impacted all these areas and more.

But the best part is: The relief and positive shifts often begin immediately. It’s not a practice where you wait months to see results – the ripple effects of it start right away.

But don’t just take my word for it:

What Does the Research Say?

EFT isn’t just anecdotal; there’s a growing body of research supporting its effectiveness. Studies have shown that EFT can significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD. For instance, a meta-analysis found that EFT treatment had moderate to large effects on these conditions.

Moreover, research indicates that EFT can lead to substantial physiological benefits. For example, a study published in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease found that EFT significantly reduced cortisol levels – the body’s primary stress hormone – by 43% after a single session, compared to a 19% reduction in a psychotherapy group and a 2% increase in a no-treatment group. This suggests that EFT not only helps in emotional regulation but also in reducing physical stress responses.
